Cycling on the German Wine Route Cycle Trail, Rhineland

The German Wine Route Cycle Trail runs parallel to the German Wine Route, taking in historical towns, vineyards and castles. Travelling through the Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany's second largest wine-growing area by bike is the ideal way to experience this area. The famous wine town of Deidesheim offers Riesling and pinot noir accompanied by the new contemporary cuisine that is taking the town's gourmet restaurants by storm. From here the route leads south towards the French border, through a landscape reminiscent of Tuscany with its gentle vine-clad hills and pretty villages. Neustadt with its magnificent historical centre, winding lanes and numerous taverns makes for an ideal place to stop off for a while.
